Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, I planned to attend Arizona State University on a gymnastic scholarship until sidelined by a serious knee injury. I then took up golf in February of my senior year and continued to ASU where the golf coach let me practice with the team. While I was there, I played on the second team as the first team won three NCAA championships. After graduating, I won the Virginias’ Stroke Play (WVA and VA) by 13 strokes shooting a record 64 in the second round), qualified for the US Open, runner up in the Southern Amateur, medalist in the Eastern Amateur as well as winning three Tampa Bay mini-tour events (which later became the Futures tour) as an amateur. I then turned pro, changed teachers and my scores plummeted. My first qualifying school was a disaster and many of my friends who I had been surpassing all year made it through (gained playing privileges on?) to the LPGA. Several years later, David Leadbetter, was kind enough to help and encourage me to play on the European and Australian tours as well as go back to the LPGA tour school. He is a genius and will probably go down in history as the best “swing” coach of all time. I then qualified for the LPGA in 1993 thanks to his superior teaching skills. I have learned that having a teacher who understands the physics of golf and show you the corrections with video camparisons makes all the difference for gaining confidence, success and independence.  Now, combining the knowledge of my prior teacher, Skip Alexander, a former Ryder Cup player, David Leadbetter,  the use of the Tomi putting lab and the information available to me from my friendship with Marius Filmalter, the number one putting guru today on all tours, I feel confident that I can take any player and make them the best that they can possibly be.

I was also more than fortunate to be able to work for David Leadbetter at Champions Gate, his personal academy in Orlando, Florida. There I was certified as a prestigious David Leadbetter instructor in three months, the fastest any trainee has ever been certified in all of his worldwide academies by nine months. David and his wife Kelly, a former LPGA tour player and member of the ASU golf team with me have been instrumental in my life in enabling me to help others learn and develop their games to their highest levels. After teaching for David, I also competed in a few Women’s Legends events (LPGA Senior Tour players) and finished second in the Beuhler Classic beating practically every former Hall of Fame player of my era. I can only attribute that to a better understanding of the physics of a swing as I have always been the smallest player in the field. I hope to give back and share all that I have learned to help others enjoy the wonderful world of golf.
